If your water pressure has slowly faded over the years, or the water runs a little rusty first thing in the morning, the pipe is usually telling you something.
Galvanised pipe closes up from the inside
Most West Ashley homes from the fifties and sixties were plumbed with galvanised steel. It rusts on the inside, so the opening gets narrower and narrower long before anything actually leaks. That is why the shower loses pressure when someone runs the kitchen tap, and why the first water of the morning looks off.
Repairing one section rarely helps for long
If we open a wall and find the pipe closed up along its length, patching one piece just moves the problem a few feet. We will tell you honestly when repiping is the better use of your money, even though it is the larger job.
It is less disruptive than most people expect
New pipe can usually be routed through existing wall cavities, closets and the attic, so we open a few targeted access points rather than every wall. We can also do it in stages if that suits your budget better.
The line from the street counts too
If pressure is low everywhere, the problem may be the service line rather than the house. That can be replaced by boring a new line through underground, which leaves your lawn and landscaping alone.
