If you have been told your sewer line needs replacing and the quote involves digging a trench across your garden, it is worth asking whether it can be lined instead.
Why it suits older West Ashley
The established streets here have mature oaks, settled lawns and driveways that have been in place for decades. Digging a trench through all of that to reach a failing clay or cast iron line is disruptive and expensive to put back. Lining creates a new pipe inside the old one, working through access points that already exist, so what is above ground stays as it is.
It also solves the root problem properly
Roots get in through the joints between old pipe sections. A liner has no joints for them to find, which is why this stops the cycle instead of postponing it.
When you probably do not need it
If your home is in one of the newer neighbourhoods off Bees Ferry, your sewer line is modern PVC and not especially old. A blockage there is almost certainly something to clean out rather than a pipe to replace. If lining has been suggested for a house that new, ask to see the camera footage first.
When it will not work
If a pipe has collapsed completely, or sagged so badly it holds water, there is nothing sound left to line against. We would rather tell you that after looking than start something that cannot succeed.
