That steady drip you have learned to ignore is nearly always a quick, low-cost repair once someone has a proper look.
Why it started dripping
Most modern taps have a cartridge inside that wears out over time and stops sealing. Turning the handle harder only wears it faster. Replacing the cartridge normally solves it completely.
In older West Ashley homes
Where the supply pipe is galvanised, small pieces of rust break away inside and get caught in taps and aerators. If you have had a tap repaired and it went wrong again soon after, the pipe feeding it is often the underlying cause — which is a different and bigger conversation, and we will be straight with you about it.
One tap with poor pressure
Almost always the little screen in the end of the spout. Unscrew it, soak it in vinegar overnight, put it back. If the pressure is low all through the house, that is something else and worth a call.
Have a look under your sinks
The flexible supply lines and the drain fittings underneath fail slowly and quietly, and the first sign is often a damaged cabinet base. A quick look under each sink twice a year is genuinely worth doing.
