Taps in a seasonally used home seize more readily than ones in daily service, and on the island salt speeds that along.
Sitting unused stiffens cartridges
A tap untouched for three months is noticeably harder to turn than one used daily, and forcing it is what finishes the cartridge off. A pre-season check exercises everything and catches the ones on their way out.
Older villa fittings
In the original villas, taps are often still the ones fitted when the building went up. Parts are frequently still available, and a rebuild restores them properly — we would rather do that than sell you a replacement.
Poor pressure at one tap
Nearly always the small screen at the end of the spout. Unscrew it, soak it in vinegar overnight, refit it. Low pressure throughout the home usually points at the regulator, or irrigation drawing at the same time.
Outside taps need better parts
Hose bibs and outdoor shower fittings fail here far more often than indoor ones. Something specified for coastal use costs a little more and lasts several times longer.
