A dripping faucet is rarely the faucet. In older North Charleston homes it is usually what the water has done to the valve, and in newer ones it is the quality of the fitting.
Older homes: debris from the supply
Galvanised supply lines shed corrosion internally, and that debris lodges in cartridges and aerators. If you replace a cartridge and it fails again quickly, the supply pipe is feeding the problem — which is a repiping conversation rather than a faucet one.
Newer homes: builder-grade fittings
Post-1996 builds were fitted with entry-level faucets now past warranty. Replacing with a decent cartridge-based fixture usually costs less over five years than repeated repairs on the original.
Low pressure at one tap
Nearly always a blocked aerator. Unscrew it, soak in vinegar, refit. If pressure is low across the whole house, that is the pressure regulator or the supply line, and worth a call.
Under-sink leaks
Supply connectors and drain assemblies fail slowly and quietly. On slab construction, cabinet damage is often the first visible sign. Worth a look under each sink twice a year.
