Water lines here rarely fail from age. When something goes wrong it is usually ground movement, or somebody digging.
Landscaping is the usual cause
Kiawah properties have substantial planting and irrigation, and a good share of the service line damage we see comes from a spade, a fence post or an irrigation trench rather than from the pipe wearing out. If your bill has jumped after garden work, that is the first thing to check.
Sand moves
Ground here shifts more than firmer inland soil, which puts strain on joints and connections over time. It is another reason the failure tends to be at a fitting rather than in the middle of a run.
Replaced without disturbing the garden
If a service line does need replacing, boring a new one underground leaves lawns, planting and irrigation intact. On properties where the landscaping is a significant part of the value, that is worth asking for before accepting a quote that assumes trenching.
Repiping is almost never needed
The pipe inside these homes is modern. If repiping has been suggested, ask what was actually found — low pressure here is far more likely a pressure regulator, a part-closed valve, or irrigation drawing at the same time.
