Gas work in a coastal environment needs the right materials, and in a multi-unit building it needs particular care.
Salt air on exposed pipe
Any gas line running outside or under an elevated house is exposed to salt in a way it never would be inland. It needs to be properly rated and protected, and it is worth having it looked at periodically rather than assumed sound.
Villas and shared buildings
Where several homes share a structure, a gas concern is never confined to one unit. If you smell gas in a villa, leave, call from outside, and let your neighbours and management company know as well.
Grills, fire pits and outdoor kitchens
Popular here and straightforward when done properly with exterior-rated pipe and accessible shut-offs. In a rental, whoever is staying needs to be able to find that shut-off easily.
Everything permitted and tested
Licensed, permitted, pressure tested and inspected, every time. There is no version of gas work where that is optional.
