Hanahan is really two towns as far as plumbing goes, and which one you live in tells you almost everything about what will go wrong.
The older streets
The original part of Hanahan went up in the forties and fifties, much of it built for people working at the Navy Yard. Those homes were plumbed with galvanised steel, which rusts closed from the inside. You notice it as pressure that has quietly faded over the years, water that looks rusty first thing in the morning, and not being able to run the shower and the kitchen tap at once.
Tanner Plantation and the newer side
Homes built in the two thousands have modern pipe that is not going to need replacing. If someone has suggested repiping a house that new, ask them what they actually found — it is far more likely to be a single fitting or a pressure regulator.
Patching old pipe rarely lasts
If the galvanised has closed up along its length, replacing one section just moves the problem a few feet. We will tell you honestly when repiping is the better use of your money, and we can stage the work if that helps.
It is less disruptive than you would expect
New pipe runs through existing wall cavities, closets and the attic, so we open a few targeted spots rather than every wall.
