Downtown faucet problems are usually about what the old supply pipe is delivering, not the faucet itself.
Debris from galvanised supply
Corroding galvanised lines shed particles that lodge in cartridges and aerators. If a new cartridge fails again within months, the supply pipe is feeding the problem — which is a repiping conversation rather than a fixture one.
Period fixtures worth keeping
Many peninsula homes have original or reproduction fittings chosen to suit the house. Rebuild kits and replacement stems are often available for these, and we would rather restore a fixture that belongs in the room than replace it with something that does not.
Low pressure at one tap
Usually a blocked aerator. Unscrew, soak in vinegar, refit. Low pressure throughout the house points at the supply line or regulator, which is a different problem.
Under-sink leaks on old floors
Slow connector leaks damage cabinetry and the flooring beneath. On original boards that matters more than it would elsewhere — worth checking under each sink twice a year.
