Taps here are usually good quality, which changes the advice — repairing them properly is nearly always better than replacing them.
Quality fittings are worth repairing
A lot of Daniel Island kitchens and bathrooms have well-made tapware where a cartridge or a rebuild kit restores it completely. We would far rather repair a good fixture than sell you a replacement, and we will tell you honestly which situation you are in.
Why it started dripping
Hard water leaves mineral deposits on the cartridge and seat until the tap cannot close fully. Turning the handle harder only wears it faster. Replacing the cartridge sorts it; treating the water is what stops it happening again on the same schedule.
Poor pressure at one tap
Nearly always scale in the little screen at the end of the spout. Unscrew it, soak it in vinegar overnight, refit it. If pressure is low throughout the house, that is usually the pressure regulator.
Check under your sinks
Flexible supply lines and drain fittings fail slowly and quietly, and in fitted cabinetry the first sign is often damage to the carcass. A quick look twice a year is worth doing, especially in bathrooms you rarely use.
